Great idea, how do we do it?

The long-term goal is to build a fully automated stethoscope recording diagnosis tool that provides a diagnosis in real time. Doing it in real time ensures that the patient is still with their medical professional when the results come in. Automation is what drives the price to zero. And free diagnosis is what lets people all over the world afford to have every single stethoscope reading analyzed. Analyzing all recordings is key to detecting CVD in patients that aren't expecting it.

Building this diagnosis tool at the level of accuracy required for medical applications will take time. But we want to deliver better patient outcomes from day one. So the immediate plan is to geographic and temporal flexibility that digital stethoscopes allow. Instead of requiring patients and expert cardiologists to be in the same room at the same time, any medical professional can take the recording, and a small team of distributed cardiologists can give their diagnosis shortly after. Since these diagnoses would bear the same weight as the cardiologist's in-person assessment with an analog stethoscope, we can meaningfully reduce barriers to diagnosis before automating anything. And these diagnoses will contribute (with patient consent) to our model's training data.

This is how we get to work immediately on driving the cost of CVD diagnosis to zero. If you would like to be a part of this project, please reach out using our contact form.
